See: http://www.avcom.co.za/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 75#p445592
From AVCOM - apparently Cathro and Co....
I got word from a friend of mine that the the CAA officials with the traffic cop attitudes
were present at Hippo Pools over the weekend.
This do not leave a very good taste in one's mouth and definitely don't do any good to
relations.

Evidently a notice for the evening function was put up stating "PILOTS ONLY - NO CAA Officials Welcome"

I feel an approach lat an efly-in event like....
Guys I'm an Inspector for the CAA - here's a lit of EXACTLY what you should be carrying in your A/C...let's see what you have and if you need us to assist you in compiling the docs, we have a copy at our offices - give us a call..... vhpy vhpy vhpy

Apparently the above was not their approach with those pilots out of line.

I recently had a school A/C grounded by the same (**) because I noted in the logbook that I wanted two strut bolts changed on the Cheetah at the 300hrs. Although the bolts life is 1000hrs I was told by this official that he was "covering his arse" as he put it. He refused to issue the ATF - he also would not let me fly it to Rainbow to have the work done and grounded the A/C...

Interesting times ahead..

You do not need to phone. You were supposed to know this for your lisence. CAR 91.03.1(b)
Certf of registration(ownership certf)
Certf of airworthiness(ATF)
Licence for each crew member
Radio station licence
certf of release to service(no need on ntca because of ATF)
Pilot's operating manual
Mass&Balance
Noise sertf
List of signal used by intercepting aisrcraft(CAR 91.06.29)
Flight folio
By the way this is tongue in the cheek. Had a four hour visit by them on Fridaya(yesterday). I also had to jump arround for some stuff, was nice having them come round. Had some good discussions. Interesting.

Stuff rqd in an aircraft...

I know this should go under another topic...

but
Certf of registration(ownership certf)
Certf of airworthiness(ATF)
Radio station licence
certf of release to service(no need on ntca because of ATF)
Pilot's operating manual
Mass&Balance
Noise sertf
Point to consider....our ATF covers 7 of the above items anyway...

I feel a softer approach would have benefitted the CAA reputation far more..

Hi guys,

The softness and myself are going to the Africa Cup. This will be our first time attending the event.

Obvioulsy I would prefer to fly there  . I'd like some pointers, advise etc from the experienced guys on the forum.
Let's say leaving Microland:
1. What route should one take? I have been studying the maps and I have an idea, but would like to compare that to the routes you guys have taken.
2. Where are good places to land, on the way there, for nature breaks  and fuel?

Any advise will be appreciated

Tracer, you are certainly going to enjoy Numbi - last year was my first and i vowed never to miss another - big jol. I towed last year but this year am looking to fly. Maybe some of the Springs/microland boys wouldnt mind us joining one of their "gaggles" - also my first time to fly down.

Microland/ Springs - can we join??

So far I think I am the only one from Laser, but haven't spoken to the other guys yet.

Nkwazi, do you know if McFly is going?
