King post height

Postby RV4ker (RIP) » Fri Jul 11, 2008 1:36 pm

I am now doing the AFF drawing of the hangar. Does not look like I will be able to accomdate Albat so hangar only needs to be 3.5m high, but I know there is a trike in my future, so want to make provision for it. How high is the kingpost and are they all same height? Conversely what is min height of the hangar truss for a trike hangar? If I have to drop it every time to get it in and out I will not fly it much...

Not sure of hight, they are not all the same hight though. My Mainair Gemini was reasonably short and Airborne the tallest I have seen (Does not fit into normal trike hanger)

4'2meter,then you have freedom to buy what you want and you can fit a strobe on the top of the king post.

4 meters high should be safe for almost all trikes, unless you have a big ugly strobe on top, but don't go less than 3.8...regards rudi
PS: 12 meters wide is also a good safe bet for most.

I had to design and build a hanger in Tanzania last year while working there.

3.75 high
5 deep (make this more, you never know when you buying 2 or 3 toys)
10 wide

Plan is 20 x 20 x 5.5, but they are being difficult, so I scaled it down to 15x15x4.5 best case and worst case 13x13x4.5.....
