Re: CAPE TOWN - CHRISTMAS BALL
My softness and I will certainly attend a 'microlighters' xmas ball.
footnote - ignore if you wish [Forgive me for saying this and I do not wish to offend anyone but we wouldn't be keen on attending an 'aviation' ball that includes everyone that flies anything. I was part of that fraternity for too long and got out of it partly because of the attitude of some of the 'blik' pilots, so I couldnt be bothered with them. What attracted us to microlighters, as people, is their down to earth upretentiousness which means they are great people to party with. Let the top-gun super-pilots hire limos for the night and have their function at Thunder City without us.]

Jetranger................ Your point taken and noted. I have NO experience of the 'bliks' so can't comment but if this is the general feeling of the microlighters then would definitely consider your suggestion. It would also depend on the amount of sponsorship I get to reduce ticket prices and eventual costs to each of us. Should know shortly. Within the next 3 days.

Re: CAPE TOWN - CHRISTMAS BALL
Thanks Grumpy
Let me give you an example, I landed at Wintervogel once and within minutes was surrounded by other pilots and the owner and made to feel totally welcome and part of the fraternity. I ended up taking his son for a flip since he had never been in a Gyro. Thats the way it should be and well done to the spirit you guys have there. Conversely, a C210 owner in Robertson once demanded that I move my 'stuk kak' because he needed to taxi turn his machine around and percieved me to be in his way. When I suggested that he simply push it back a few meters he suggested that 'eggbeaters' shouldnt be allowed at 'real' airfields. I ask you. Follow Avcom for a while and I'm sure you will see similar attitudes. Be that as it may, its just my view. I do commit to support you in your endeavour! Good luck and pass my regards on to the Wintervogel gang.

Hey to all!
Dont worry. The fact that i mentioned the blik earie okes was just an idea. Just for incase we dont get the numbers full. But i also asked for thoughts regarding this and we got them! We are as Morph says microlighters and microlighters comes first. If the blik okes have k*k attitudes like that then i agree, let them organize their own thing.

Re: CAPE TOWN - CHRISTMAS BALL
I feel I should hasten to add that the 'blik' guys are not ALL like that and that there are some really great pilots and instructors among them whom I consider to be my friends, so please forgive me for the gross generalisation. I simply felt that I, for one, would much rather see a 'microlighters' function which Morf has assured us will be the case, so I am happy and look forward to it!
Fly safe and be happy!

Re: CAPE TOWN - CHRISTMAS BALL
I don't think the blik okes with a bad attitude towards microlighters will attend anyway, so they will be sifted by default purely by the fact that they would'nt want to mix with the microlighters. The blikkies that will buy tickets will be those friendly to microlighters or being our friends.
