Nice to have so many positive guys on the forum. vhpy

It is not so much myself that I'm thinking about as my two lovely daughters and their children that I'm thinking of when thinking of leaving the country. Maybe I am just willing to suffer a bit on my luxury lifestyle and be able to offer them a descent living one day.

Second option will be to stay here and sell stones for ammo if I need to, but to send some money out of the country and either invest over seas or even buy some euros and put them under your pillow as the R is not growing as fast in value as the euro on this stage.

Just aother question to all you positive oke’s out there,

It is a fact that people is getting more, resources and land is getting less and less.

What do you think will happen if people is been put in a situation were every one have to start looking at a future for himself, his family and then his ethnic group? Exactly the same as what is happening with the foreigners in our country now or the farmers in Zim. The police can barely handle the situation now not to talk about a government that believe if they turn a blind eye and not admitting there is a problem, it will go away.

What do you think will happen when the people with all eleven official languages in this country is been put in a situation where they start turning on each other for survival and resources and who will you trust to defend your loved ones and will they then be able to save the day if they cant even defend the few foreigners in the country. And if it happens within a short time like over night or even two weeks, who will be able to mobilize and defend them selves or get someone to defend them selves. It might not happen in my live time, but what about in my children or grand children’s lives.

Now if you look at the news and think logically about the facts am I been pessimistic or just realistic.......... :? :? :?

There is a very fine line between been pessimistic or realistic as is there a very fine line between been positive and living in denial, ask our government. Maybe if we also blame a mysteries third force when we screw up instead of admitting and correcting our mistakes, we might also get away with an excuse for now.

Just for the record; I am an African, and I am staying.

I am expanding my business, looking for a piece of land with a runway to operate a Gyro school from as a hobby and in spite of all the problems our country faces I remain positive and like to believe that sanity will prevail.

Interesting to see so many positive posts.

If you think positive thoughts on a regular basis ,chances are that positive things will happen to you.

This is not some mystical theory, rather it is you programming your subconcous mind being and telling it into which direction it must work to give you the results from life you want.

Your subconcous mind is a very powerfull tool, you and only you can decide how it is to be used.

That is why I said to Bennie he will find the answer within himself.

I've given this a lot of thought...

We are all on a good wicket of some sorts in SA!

There are and are going to be lots of new opportunities popping up in SA in the future!

The only relocation I'll consider now is getting closer to the coast!

Where in the world can you still exceed the speed limit, have a few extra ales... and leave Xenephobia up to others that are ungrateful for the unseen extra "income" to the taxi industry and are prepared to work in the places of those that just want to demand..... lots of hiccups and backfiring for the ANC now... puff

Problem: I have an engine out.
Solution: Stay calm and positive, apply what you were taught. Your attitude will make a difference.

Problem: South Africa - politics, crime etc.

What an inspiring bunch of posts. It's Obvious - Flying makes you positive.

The one thing that you cannot get away from if you move.......is yourself.

I have lived in 4 different countries now, and you only swap one set of problems for another. Better to make peace with yourself, and then you can be happy anywhere.

My in-laws have just returned from a months trip to Bunbury, Western Australia.
They hired a camper for the duration of their stay to travel the length of the west coast and had to take out insurance on the camper which, bar any incidents, would be returned after the period of rental.
It cost them R16,500 for one months insurance - extremely expensive in my opinion.
I was speaking to them last night and yesterday they received the original insurance deposit back, amazingly R19,000.
If you stop and think about it, their money gave them a return of 15% in the one month they were there - this effectively meant our Rand had diminished by the same percentage.
We are getting poorer every day with the diminishing South African Lira and that will not get any better in my opinion.
No amount of friends, sunshine, way of life, positive thoughts or anything else will change that.
It is a personal choice, but I surely don't want to spend my last years eating dog food out of a rusty tin (as a number of aging Zimbabweans currently do) due to my retirement money being worthless.

You will find me on that site....and many others.

BTW, I hear that they have raised the Aus immigration age to 49 from 45. Not sure if this is true?

So what options are open to the over 45 or maybe 49 year olds who want to emigrate to AUS?

Gunter
If you older than 49, then you have following options:
- either apply with your wife as primary applicant
- apply with a kid as primary applicant (must be 21 or over)
- apply to (NZ) age limit is 55, and stay for 2 yrs, then go to Oz
- Get someone to give you ajob and go on a work permit (then when in OZ apply for perm residence)

The age limit is the age by which you need to submit your application to the local embassy (commission). Process takes about a year and costs on average R30k without agent and R45k through agent. Using agent is money well spent.
Once you have permanent residence visas you have one year to validate (go in and out of Oz) and 5 years to take up permanent residence. So even if you not sure, get teh visa and you have 5 years to actually decide or build up some more wealth.

Anyone can email me for more info and advice.

good luck

Andre

I'm in the process of leaving, BUT have not yet left :? The reason is that I love this country and have to really motivate myself to go. I have never run the country down but do feel that facts are facts and that everyone have to make a decision based on his/her own situation. THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG :!: I have two daughters and that is my main reason for going. Luckily I don`t have too many close friends or extended family so that bit is sorted. The finances will never change and as someone has said our wallets gets used to all the bumps etc. Everything that this country can chuck in my direction I can take.

I have had a couple of very close friends involved in a couple of incidents and from that came the one thing that I cant handle, who in here will look into the eyes of a 6 year old girl and explain to her why she was raped :?: Why a man came and hurt her although she had nothing to do with apartheid etc. I cant. I realize there is crime wherever you go but at least there is also justice in most other countries. I will be back, but only when my kids are old enough to make their own lives and decisions. 12 years is a very short time and in 12 years both will be old enough to do that, every year I stay in this country is one year of the twelve, but hey I haven't left yet have I :?: :)
