Hi I nead inf from some fundis out there .I have baught myself a Skyranger with a rotex 582 blue top ,and would like to know if the motor would perf well on altitude of 4550 amsl with two up and in the loading specks of the plane with full tank of 70 lit. I still have to do my conver and this will be done on sea level where the perf is always better than up country. What would the perf be at levels of 7000ft and above because my friends stay in barkly east and would like to fly there to.
Thanks for a great forum i would battle to get this type of info somewhere else. BOATCH :P
Skyranger Performance
BOATCH,
define "perform well"
Will it fly, yes, climb yes, but what about density altitude, length of runway required, MAUW etc. I don't know the answers to these questions but a Cheetah is similar in design to the Skyranger and from what I have seen performs well with a 582 at JHB altitudes. Obviously it would perform better with a bigger engine.
I would say that a 582 would be the minimum engine size you should look at at those altitudes for this type of plane.
Speak to Fawgie on this forum or Capt Biggles. They instruct on these planes and would be able to give you more information.
