Hi Morph
I have the instructions in front of me.
No T or Y piece required for the 912 installation.
Thermostat has 4 ports as you have drawn it, 2 in and 2 out. 1 in and 1 out on each end of the thermostat.
Cooler bypass occurs in the thermostat itself.
Do you have the thermostat and instructions yet?
I can scan and email you the instructions if you wish. Call me on oh82 41 ooo82.

Thanks
I have CHT and oil temp indicators.
As you know, there are 2 CHT probes on the 912 cylinder head water jackets, cant remember now which cylinder numbers but I am using the one at the back which should be the hotter one.

Those CHT probes does not go into the "water jackets". Turn one out and see if any water leaks out. They ONLY show CHT. If you want to know water temp, you will have to install a water temp sensor in one of the water lines, and a meter. :D

True Boet
The probes go into the casting right alongside the water jacket.
They don't measure actual water temp for a good reason and that is you will still be able get a CHT reading in the event of total water loss and still run the motor to a safe landing spot.
I see no point in measuring the water temp when the water is used to cool the head. Rather measure what the water is trying to cool. The water will be cooler than the head anyway.

I have two CHT probes installed. One at the front, Cyl 4, and one at the rear, Cyl 1. The temp diff between the sensors is generally 1°C, rarely 2°C. This is in a pusher config with no cowling, and probably minimal ram cooling on the forward cylinders. Would be interesting to see what the diff is in a tractor installation with cowlings. How the airflow over the forward cylinders would affect the cooling of the head.

Arnulf
