Hi All, I always like to share my findings..just when we thought we had found the ultimate battery for GPS and such devices. We have come across a new product.
Energizer have launched the "blue series" Li Ion a while back, wow they are good but expensive and give a 6 times alkaline life. Available in stores country wide...
I have found a generic version from Hong Kong called "power plus". After tests in our headsets they give 250 hrs usage and weigh half of a standard alkaline. I bought the entire stock of AAAs in Durban and will be buying the AAs today.
I think some stock may be available around the country from Electrocomp. AAAs cost about R19,50 for two excl VAT and AAs cost R22,00 for two. A worthwhile back up for long trips. All our kit now gets them as standard.

Centrifugal force in pure Physics does not exist, however this does not apply to Taxi drivers..

Hiya I know the small 9 volts unit you have, unsure if its available but I will check tomorrow.
To run from the plane you will require a line choke and some form of suppression to remove the electrical "storm". We supply them at cost to the forum at R220,00 should you require one.

When passing, please pop-in - I would like to see this power line choke and suppression.
There are several "potentials" for you at Cato. Can't make their own and can't find DIFM (Do It For Me)

I have a blue tooth GPS receiver that has a Li-Polymer battery. now i have a question for the boffins , will i damage the battery if i leave it on charge for a week or longer . I use the GPS receiver on a boat for nav purposes and it stays on charge for the whole 3 week period . And secondly , if it is harming the battery , can i use the receiver with the battery removed and the charger plugged in and not do any harm to the receiver .

Hi Zulu1
It is a Fortuna Clip-On Bluetooth GPS Receiver . Model-SiRF Xtrack Version : 2.02 . I use it with my iPAQ 5550 palmtop and the EasyCockpit software for navigation in my a/c . I hope that will help. My main concern is the battery`s "health" if i do leave the charger connected for very long times , as i use the receiver for other applications that require it to be on for 2 to 3 weeks at a time.
Regards
Clem
