Rotax Gearbox oil seal

Postby Rudix » Fri Jun 29, 2007 6:44 am

Hi Everyone,

I seem to have a leaking oil seal on a "C" Rotax gearbox. It is the seal that sits on the crankshaft input side of the gearbox. The gearbox is mounted with the prop shaft at the top so this seal is at the bottom.

Is it a major operation to change it ? Do I need to remove the gearbox or can I just split it on the engine and replace the seal like that ?

Thanks for any information :D

Fly safe,
Rudi

Unless you're mechanically minded, fix it yourself. No big deal. Otherwise send it wherever you send stuff to :?:
You'll need a moerse big bobbejaanspanner and a pipe for leverage, oh, and some Locktite Retaining Grade and a special jig to hold the propshaft flange
By the way, it's a LEFTHAND threaded nut :D
Airspeed, altitude, or brains....you always need at least two
