Missing a beat

Postby Robin Hood » Sat Apr 21, 2007 4:55 am

My 582 misses slightly when I swtich off one of the mags. Cannot remember if it did this before or if I even tried doing this. This is at idle speed, not at normal 3000 revs used when doing pre flight check. At 3000 revs I do not hear any difference at all. Is this something to worry about?

Miss a beat

Mine did this as well at one time....

Changed the plugs and checked all the HT stuff...

Also found a cable from the coil burnt through at the base of the Ducati connectors. At high rpm fine as the spark could jump but at low rpm, no go! I cut them out and replaced with other connectors1

My problem was solved!

Tried all the HT wires and made sure all pug-in connectors were securely seated this morning. And all went 100%. So hope this was the problem - it apperas to be. Thanks again.

Amazing thing vibration/broken wires. I moved the wires to the black mag boxes and this must have just aligned them correctly so all was well for three flight or so. Then problem started again. After much moving, shaking, cutting, patching of wires dicovered it had broken off virtually inside black plastic stuff. Managed to get some wiring just stcking out the box, added solder and patched together wiith mixture of Pratleys. Should hopefully last for a bit before I have to buy new one. But most amazing was that during same flight all power to my GX 1 and radio went dead. After much searching by guys at Microflight we discovered a broken wire on th charging coils. More solder, patching and away went the Rotax again. Hope that is the last of that for a while. Always happens during prime flyng time that Aquilla gives moelikheid. :? :( :x
