The Tale of Shreg (was KR2 for sale.)

The details as far as I know are as follows

KR-2 composite. Total airframe hours +-180. Total engine hours +- 120. Haven't got the logbook here but its pretty close to that.

Engine is a VW 2.4 litre limbach conversion (grob motor). Direct drive, fixed speed prop. Cessna carb (needs some cleaning). Cessna nose wheel tyres.

Cruise speed 120 kts @ 20 litres/hr.

Instruments all work: Collins com/nav radio. VOR (antennae not connected), VSI, Altimeter, T&B x 2. Intercom and 1 headset. Cig lighter and GPS bracket installed by myself which includes a seperate voltage regulator. Seperate transponder (king i think) and alti encoder also sold with plane but not installed.

The PTT on the stick came loose last time and needs to be screwed in. There is a double PTT on the dash which I installed.

The battery has never been used, may need a charge but will still be good. The AP last mentioned it must be more securely fastened down and the bracket has broken - so it needs another and is just wired at the moment.

Beautiful plane to fly but needs a very awake pilot.

I bought it for a lot more than i want. I will be happy with R45000 and I'm sure someone will take it for at least R50000

I don't think the wings will fit in a Kombi, I had to rent a trailer when I needed to transport mine, but, I never tried to fit it in a Kombi so maybe ?

I think they are fine planes BUT they are HOT, and very sensitive. I think yours have normal sticks, the single, short centre stick in mine made it even more sensitive. I think the biggest thing to be aware of is the CG, it is very easy to get it a bit far back and then a stall/spin situation can become very dangerous. That is how my test pilot went in. If the CG is right and you keep the speed up on final all should be ok. Also remember that because of the wing being so close to the ground she will float a long way in ground effect !

There are quite a few flying, not sure how many, some are rather heavely modified !

I think in the right hands and handled with repect it is a great plane, still the best "bang for your buck" out there ! I was VERY interested in the one you bought but due to "political" reasons I decided to give it a miss in the end. I am still looking for a project plane but something a bit more docile.

Look at it now Shreg is the name :D
It is 6kg lighter and I fixed all the little nicks and things. We sanded most of the old paint down to primer level. Then applied a thin layer of black to do the colour change without putting too much paint on. I did some fast taxi runs with the tail up and I find the rudder control less difficult than the Kitfox 3 because you sit behind the vertical turning point. The pitch I'll say nothing about that now. Let me 1st fit my new prop and shock test the engine and motor mount.
