What a great day and good turn out. To those guys who "did not want to stand in a cue for a free breakfast" saddies, you lost out big time. Due to the organisers and cooks starting early and being organised, there was no que. The cameradery and chatts around the breakfast table's was great. Unfortunately, ERFC has decided to cancel this years free anual December event. :( This will be the only one this year. :(

Thanks so much to the East Rand Flying Club for providing the breakfast and the facility for a fun event. Thanks to Paul for doing the ATC. Great work as usual. So good to see some of my old flying buddies from my training days. (^^) (^^)

Morning all.

I still have R1332 rand left in the ML Fund. I want to arrange the varnishing of the tables/benches and the cupboard doors before the summer sun and rain arrive. I will arrange this with Johanness to do for us and supply him with the necessary materials. I will also repair the damage done to the cupboards during the last "break in".....@#$% bastards!

There are two pressing issues that need to be taken care of wrt the Lapa.

1: The main support pole for the tie beam on the northern side of the lapa is about to slip off.... this needs re bracing before the structure collapses which will be catastrophic....I believe Hans is responsible for this so I ask you all to point it out to him everytime you see him...maybe he will eventually get the message?
2: The re tiling of the bar/kitchen counters. They used the incorrect tile adhesive when doing this years ago which is why the tiles are all lifting up and loose. I suggest we re tile the whole area again using new ceramic tiles to rectify permanently. I estimate this at about R3500 all inclusive...but must do a proper costing first.

We need funds for this chaps...(you know who is not interested so don't bother asking  )

I ask you guys to put some thought into it and arrive at next weeks braai with some feasible ideas towards fund raising for our "club". We can discuss them and come up with a plan towards keeping our social corner of the airfield in good nick. It's up to us (as it always has been) to maintain and improve on what ERMF did all those years ago.

Think about it and we'll discuss it all next weekend. (^^)

To those headed to the lowveld this weekend, hope the weather holds for you and fly safe gents. :)

Good morning Mr. Meanwell. vhpy Last two trips I did to the lowveld I crossed the escarpment at 11 500 ft (Eastward) and 10 500 ft (Westward) at a QNH 1013 (12 100 & 10 950 tru alt) At those altitudes the air is calm and there is no risk of being pushed into the ground by downdrafts. It looks very weird to see so many digits on the altimeter.

Allan, there is also some money left from the fridge which can go to the repairs. Dionne also suggested that while we are busy with the retiling we should take the top of the counter off, making it all one level at the lower level (shorty). This way the counter will be more usefull. Lets discuss at the next braai, on the 16th August.

We've been threatening for years now to host a breakfast at microland, that might a be good idea to see if we can add some money to what we have for the repairs. Just a thought.

Have a safe trip to all flying to the lowveld, hope you have a great time.
See you guys at the braai next weekend, ons gaan bietjie bos toe die naweek, vir mini nick leer tent op slaan

Yes I like that idea :) ...hell I'm not gonna stand in the way of a lady and her kitchen layout...

It would give us more practical space...the existing counter is much too high I agree. ^

Lets look at it.

I agree entirely with the changes you want to make to the lapa, Next week we should each bring a hammer to the braai vhpy
