Technical Documents

Postby mulderpm » Wed Mar 06, 2013 10:08 am

The previous owner of my Trike, Jan Coetzee, was an ardent aviator. He was also a Professor at TUK's and the author of the book "microlight airfields in South Africa". He wrote some very interesting articles which I have copies of and with his permission, will make available on the forum for all to benefit from. The Lapa at Microland is in memory of his beloved wife, Elzabe'. He stoped flying when she sadly passed away in 2007.

First Article Wing Trimming follows:

Only a pleasure Nico. (^^) So far I have posted, in my opinion, the most interesting ones. I have a couple more but lets see how many downloads there are. I have one, very intersting one about carb ballancing but because of the figures/pictures it is 400Kb. Toooo big ##

And "Dew Point". Very relevant to the last couple of mornings at Microland. The water just went out of solution in front of me. (**)

And "Lugdigtheid" ...Air Density. Now you know why your aerie flies so differently some days (Nick take note  ). On a cool dry winters morning she goes like a bat out of hell and on a hot summers day just after a rain storm you need the whole runway to get airborne. (**)

Hi
I am new and love the idea of flying microlights, can anyone guide me or send me details of a website that gives options on putting a microlight spec together, without being hunted down...

Regards
Robbie

Hi Robbie. Welcome to the fantastic sport. (^^)

Go to your closest airfield (most airfields have microlights) and speak to a Light Sport Aviation Instructor or a qualified microlight Authorised Person (microlight mechanic). I have attached some contact details. May be a bit outdated.

And "Threaded Fasteners and vibration". Now you know why your exhaust springs keep on breaking. The curled bit vibrates at a different frequency to the rest of the spring. Dampen the vibration and they stop breaking...voala vhpy
