'ey Agent! nice article! i really enjoyed it :D

- particularly coz I've flown with Andrew Pappas on a Bantam breakfast run. Lovely plane - I would need to mod it a bit - my knees sit a tad higher than yours  (presume thats you in the PIC seat in the pics?)and I cant get my feet on the rudder pedals! Its also very exciting to read since I am hopefully starting my PPL soon

Afskies - lovely 2nd edition! Got mine from Cloudbase - really good read! for such a young publication you are right up there with the best

On that subject, looking at the pics, don't your knees get in the way of the dash and instruments? How far away is the dash. I remmember the Skyfox I had the dash was so far away you couldn't get to it to change the QNH or radio settings one you had your seatbelt on

Nope - its not to bad since the instrument panel is mounted vertically a-la Heli style - see pic below. The position of the radio in this particular one was a bit of a problem (in front ot my Right shin), but this was going to change in future models.

This particular aerie had modified pedals on the PIC side(moving them forward by ± 5 cm) but it was still a very tight squeeze for my 6'6.5", 115kg frame! Would need to move the pedals even further forward, widen the bucket seats and add about 10cm to the top of the windshield to prevent bugs from impregnating themselves into my forehead!

Lovely aerie none the less!

PS will try to post pic again -no luck at this stage

Dear Trixie

I received my second copy of Afskies in the post yesterday. It is a superb effort and I am extremely pleased to be a subscriber. Hopefully I will be able to contribute something from Oz as well some time in the future.

I had thought of renewing my subscription to MISASA just so that I could keep on getting Microflight but with your magazine now in circulation I do not see the need for that. We have several ultralight/microlight magazines in Oz but they tend to focus on 3 axis flying with very little trike input.

Keep it up!

Regards

Thanks for the comments Andy ja I am the old grote in the left seat and it has been a problem with the instruments and when Andrew saw the artical he said that when I am down in the lowveld this weekend for the CC jol they will make the mod on the rudder peddals.
My story was just a true reflection of how I saw this whole exercise.

We as micro flyers need to support this mag and subscribe to ensure it's existance in the future so tell your aviation mates.

Hello Afskies

I am having a meeting with WCMC tonight so I can position the articles to the various parties. I am hoping to have it all together for you by the weekend. That OK :?:

So 'ol Demon has been an angel and put the little "add an attachment" button on for non IT guys like me - Thanks D!

So lets give it another try:

'Ey it works!

The last pic was of the nose section of a partially completed Bantam showing the mounting of std pedals. Andrew and I discussed the mod options to get me to fit and came to the conclusion that the whole torque tube assy for the rudder pedals would have to be moved forward and mounted on top of the front main structural member. obviously it would make sence to involve the Factory in NZ with such a mod.

I just decided that at this stage it was not a suitable option for me considering that I must still learn to fly. (Am starting my PPL on Saturday  )

The round object in the fornt is the 'mudguard'/ seal for the front fairing - the nosewheel is underneath it.
