Do we buy a Savvanah or not and other debates
John has flown the new (hot off production line) Savannah which will be exhibited at the show.....
I would seriously recommend the 912S motor for altitude regions and 912 for coastal.......
I'm busy with 7 students at the moment doing their MPL's or type conversions on the Savannah.
The training aircraft has just been fitted with an Arpblast prop - expensive, but well worth it...I don't like the prop that ships as standard!!!
As skybound said, not the prettiest aerie, but performs extremely well...and the prices are excellent.....
I'm unbiased, I don't get commission on any sales and I have no commercial involvement with John.....Just fly/train on the aerie type....

I bought Savannah 912S kit #444, at the time of placing my order I was undecided about building it myself. At some insane moment I decided to build it myself... 
Well, after 120 hours I have the wing structures complete (still to be covered) , slats, ailerons, Horz stabiliser, elevator, fin and rudder complete and all covered... 
AND I'm a first time builder, so going slowly. Now I'm so pleased I decided to build it myself, once one learns the knacks (very happy to share), its a breeze. Allie 6061 T6 is a wonderful material. All the initial concerns about getting things straight are gone, the skins are so accurate it all just 'pulls' together.
If anyone is building I have the dash on Turbocad available. Also there is a good builder's chatsite at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/savannahaircraft/

I am so pleased that you decided to build it yourself. I think that if one can afford the time, it is an extremely rewarding experience and certainly a major plus in assisting future maintenance of the aircraft.
Not only that, but if you build your own aircraft, it is far easier to then get accreditation as an AP....

p.s. Why not start a thread on "Ian's Savannah build" and I'm sure Morpg will make it a sticky along with RV's BB build and my Vixen rebuild, to share the experience with other microlighters....
