I was at FAWK this afternoon to see the microlights arrive!!!

I took the liberty of asking FAWK ATC if they needed any help with identifying and managing the aircraft on arrival at FAWK, which the ATC controller jumped at, and so did I!

Here are a couple of pictures of the boys arriving at FAWK . . . . (^^)

And so it came to pass ...

....a great evening with fellow friends of the air was had by all. As I sat in the convoy of vehicle traffic along Hans Strydom, a very familiar sight met my eyes.... Three trikes on final approach, landing lights on. Curious onlookers gazed up at this unfamiliar sight overhead  8)

What a sight it was to arrive at FASK, the Izuzu heavy laden with braai goodies and ales, (I will request the GPS co ordinates of the "lapa" next time  ) the airfield abuzz with activity and preparations. Arriving a bit too early, my braai assistant (Thank you very much Tom! (^^) ) and I cracked a beer and headed for the flight line to enjoy some last minute practice sessions by the display pilots. Trikes of all shapes and colours could be seen in the distance arriving at Waterkloof while we had an Impala roaring overhead us.... (!!).....Ubercool stuff 8)

A great venue was given to the pilots for the braai and we thank the persons responsible for letting us use their facilities. (^^)
Three cheers for Les!!!!

Once again, you have risen to the challenge and made the effort to arrange what I think is such an awesome event. The fact that the guys were allowed to stay over this time has really made this a great addition to the many other "annual" (yes Sir....I'm afraid we will definately have to do this again! ) fly in's around the country...

I really hope I will be taking part as a pilot in the next one, but it was great to catch up with all my flying buddies....Hope you all at least got one Boerie roll  . We enjoyed a few drinks and then it was time to send all these pilots off for a good nights rest.....In the interest of safety, Tom and I decided that we should consume the rest of the beverages ourselves

PS: Could someone please give Madman a guided tour of the Pta region..... and at least explain to him where Atteridgeville, and Aero57 is

Rafiek....what a champion! (^^) .... a real "GOTO" kind of guy ^ puff

Enjoy it gents, be safe and have fun (^^)

Well done gentlemen. Everyone safe and sound. CKC, you have no manners and its the likes of you that give microlighting a bad name. You cannot speak to ATC like that. The paragliders were always part of the display.

TONS of pics on the way, just doing some colour and lighting edits!

Unfortunately I only have the "backstory" pics . . . . all the stuff in the runup to, take off at FAWK, and the landing back at FAWK! The actual FASK flyover was hopefully captured by someone at FASK!

Also, full HD video of the mass take-off from and landing back at FAWK!

I reckon it is an ALL-TIME South African record for MOST airborne microlights in a single picture/video frame!!!! (^^)

Watch this space for some amazing shots of the day! However, due to the quantity and quality of the photos and videos I will probably need to post a couple of CDs around to the various clubs!

Well done to everyone!!!! (^^) (^^)

ZU-CKC belongs to a gentleman by the name of Dawid Bredenkamp from Pretoria. Strangely he is not a current member of MISASA!

Was it not a pertinent requirement that ALL had to attend a briefing to fly in?

Just gone through all my applications and NO!! Dawid Bredenkamp on the list. I can only but agree with Brett. Mr Bredenkamp! if you sneaked in,you should at least have had the brains to SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!!!  The way you verbally abused the ATC in that fashion is deplorable and despicable in every sense of the word ^?^ Especially so!.. when you did not listen to any of the info which you were given. You sir!.... will most certainly NEVER!!! be welcome at our events again. You have managed to spoil the day for all of us with your uncalled-for diatribe. ## You deserve all the abuse that's headed your way. I'm just sorry that there isn't a bum >;((( award as you'll walk away with the prize. s019
