Recent posts indicate that fly-aways are suffering, and people are not flying together anymore.

I am planning on taking leave for the biggest part of December. Will be mostly in Standerton on the farm with the family, but I want to fly away a bit as well.

Ek wil ALWEER see toe vlieg.. en ek wil visvang ook!

So - from Standerton to Piet Retief (100 miles) fuel stop. Piet Retief to Jozini Dam (65 miles). Spend a day tiger-fishing?? Then to Sodwana (52 miles) Spend a day or two deepsea fishing / lying on the beach/ flying to Kosi Bay

Back - one leg to Piet Retief (116 miles) - fuelstop, and another leg to Standerton (100 miles) (4 hours in good conditions - takeoff at 05h00, 30 minute fuelstop, so back in Standerton by 10h00 - before the thunderstorms.

No dates - not too much planning at this stage otherwise the weather hears about it and becomes crappy.

About a week, giving a day or so extra for weather. Francois at Sodwana charges R100 per night to sleep in the hangar. Shaya Moya will be open.. Jozini has a couple of lodges with runways. Pongola is an alternative to land if weather becomes crap.

Any interest? (This is a concept idea at this time..)

Ek het nog nie datums nie - somewhere in Desember - dalk eers na krismis - sal check nader aan die tyd wat is die weer / belangstelling situasie. So - wanneer is JY beskikbaar?

Seriously though, after giving my good tjom Bugwar some kak - I AM going to fly down to Sodwana in December, "Deo Volente", and if the weather is okay in the mornings. I have no dates - December 2011. Not too much planning - I learned during our NAM trip which ended up in a coastal trip and Blue Max's broken aerie that the weather will take out your plans if you plan months in advance. I am a firm believer in Murphy's Law.

From Standerton it can be done in a morning if weather allows - about 4 hours (cruise at 50 - 55 mph groundspeed) Nice thing is that before you commit for Pongola and beyond you can still set up camp on the Highveld and wait for the weather - Amersfoort, Ermelo, Piet Retief.

So if anybody is interested but you have more limited dates - let me know - I basically have the whole of December to plan around. (taking some of that accumulated leave of years gone by this year...)

OK that throws me out away on holiday for 3 weeks from the 1st till the 23rd.

Since I read your post, it has been on my mind. I will be in Sudwana from 8 to 24 Dec.
Will decide later on if I will take the trike by road or fly the gyro down to Sudwana.
Depends on the weather.

Will be watching this topic for other interest.
