Wow what a feeling vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy

Finally it happened I went SOLO and it was awesome 8) 8)

After almost 10 months and 22 hours it was an amazing feeling, leaving the ground flying around and touching down again all on my own, it only lasted for about 4 minutes but hay those minutes felt real good

I first flew 2 circuits with Oom Basie and then one with Pierre and then it was my time

Thank you very much Oom Basie for all the advise like “eerste eenie’kie, okay nou n klein’kie “ and then the famous one “dis soos tieties vat” it really helped me a lot. (^^) (^^)

Thanks to Pierre who came out from Rustenburg to do my Solo flight (^^) (^^)

And then a BIG thanks to the “manne” who made it out to come and give me support : Chris, Flip, Riley, Martin, Steve, Ian, Nico and others (^^) (^^)

Finally thanks to my lovely wife who is probably by now so fed up with all the solo talks and my constant flying blabbering for sticking by me with all her words of encouragement. xxx

($$) ($$) ($$) Wow it sounds like a speech for the Oscars ($$)

Here is a couple of pic’s puff

Congrats - may you thoroughly enjoy it!

Just an aside question to the aviators out there - what is a good rule of thumb to use for deciding when to fly with a passenger, after just recieving your license ?

Not to hijack the thread, but I think it is so important.

At our airfield, the unwritten rule is, first get over the hype of a new license,
by flying solo for at least 10 hours.

Just a update on my training

Went to RAASA yesterday to write the exams and aced them all (!!) (I definitely recommend using the Swales Mock exams) (^^)

I have added another 2.5 hours to my name vhpy vhpy

This morning flew 1 hour circuits and had the last 4 landings in cross winds (**) , a bit scary but good experience.

Will be pushing the hours next week and then it’s cross country time :P :P

Baie geluk Croc !!!

During training one has the feeling of "Ag F@k, can't this bloody instructor see that I can fly" and then when he suddenly says, "Solo time !!!" then the thought of "Oh no, don't leave me on my own now, pleeeeeease ... not now ?"

Francois, give me a shout and lets do a fly-about. Den-Rustenburg-Brits-? I am free (for a change this weekend).

p.s. From solo to license no pax. After license there should be no reason why not to take pax, but keep consulting with your (late) instructor.

Enjoy it Francois !! vhpy
