Hi Kalahari others,

You're right, Helga has indeed done her homework properly and I, representing the Microlight Association of Namibia - http://www.mican.com.na- assisted her in getting an Overflight Clearance from the Namibian Directorate of Civil Aviation and we are just as excited to welcome and meet her around here.
She will be entering through Nakop/Ariamsvlei according to my last information from her and we are standing by to assist her with any problems she might have at the border.
The beauty of it is the fact the she contacted us long before to arrange this and although it is burocracy, it is nothing more than right for us to know about "foreign" aircraft entering our airspace and we have done this for quite a few aircraft in the past. To those of you who encountered endless issues at the border, well, sorry, but you haven't followed correct procedure - as simple as that.

Keep well,
helga

Hi Everyone,
We had an awesome stay at Soetvlakte. Animals galore. Lizards, tortoises, snakes and so much more.
Mom (Helga) and I are doing well. Tired, bruised and slightly broken but going like a boeing.
Mom landed at Upington like a pro. Not my words but Eben's (who flies microlights and is an instructor) .
The knots were 20kph and my mum who is a pro managed to land perfectly. Praise be to GOD! We are staying at an awesome BB and seeing the Orange River flow by at a tremendous speed. I understand that the weather is not looking good for the next 2 days so we will take it as it comes.
Will catch up to all as soon as we leave. Reception permitting.
Trust you all are well and will let you know what's happening!
Cheers,
Helga and Team

Hi All,
What an awesome time we are having. Such amazing people so far. We are in Upington, Island View Guest Lodge with an amazing view. Planned to leave this afternoon but just did not feel safe. Temps high and wind picked up. So promptly went back to Lodge and booked ourselves back in. Weather permitting we will leave first light. Flight plans posted. So far so good.

Ground crew are tired from all the high speed of packing and unpacking.

Goodnight from CTP and GT

Im shure she will give us her own version of happenings when she logs on to microlighters. She's one hellova brave lady, and i take my hat off to her.
Fly safe Helga, and remember "if in doubt,DONT"
All the very best to you.

The following info was copied from Marc Gregson's posting. --- viewtopic.php?f=14&t=6547

The HKS700E engine is a 60 hp, 4-stroke, horizontally opposed, 700cc engine, with a TBO of 800hrs!
Fuel burn 7-10 ltrs/hr.

Hi to all that have expressed interest in Helga's magic adventure.
The latest is that she has no 3g connection to do the updates herself so for now i will fill that role with pleasure.
Lots of us just want to know she is safe and sound.
Currently she has diverted due to weather to Keetmanshoop.from there her plan is Helmeringhausen.then Solitare.
Maybe Duwisib(again not sure of spelling)
They seem ("they" being her lovely Daughter,n kids, as ground crew) to be having a lot of fun and in high spirit.
I am trying to get photos from them to attach but our dear Helga is a bit technologically "challenged"
Any how,as soon as network problems are resolved, she will do her own posts.
We wish her safe flying (-) and look forward to her own view of experiences.
Helga,im missing my Pano breakfast, although the weather here is dissmal to say the least,The SAPS manning our field 24/7 due to dry run, world cup SSC,and flight authorisation.
Take care

Helga you're an inspiration to us all. Congrats and continue to fly safe.

If any of you saw her pictures of her trip to the coast a few years ago ( see: http://rides.webshots.com/album/335769765AGqSoI ) then you will enjoy these pictures too.
