Manne van Staal to Cape Town

Postby Splinter » Mon Feb 09, 2009 8:00 am

Morning Guys

A few guys from Springs better known as the Manne van Staal have planned a trip down to and around Cape Town for the 18-26 April 09. The group includes myself, Big Man, Maddog, Smiley, Angelo, Maurice, Dale and Martin. This topic was created to inform the forum of how the planning is coming along as well as getting in contact with helpful microlighters along the way for a few beers (^^) , lunch, local trike trips, hanger talk and the odd fuel stop. The topic will be kept up to date with regards to route, dates and confirmed overnight stops and once the trip starts the photos will be added every night to make you okes jealous!!!

The plan so far is as follows……….

18 Apr 09 Gariepdam
19 Apr 09 Graaf Reinet
20-21 Apr Stellenbosch, Franschoek or Morningstar area
22-23 Apr Mosselbay area
24 Apr 09 Port Alfred
25 Apr 09 Margate or Port Edward
26 Apri 09 Springs

(WX permitting…as always)

Trip planning shows a 35hour route based on the average speed of the slowest trike zzzz zzzz , but we are planning to spend an additional 15 – 20 hours on scenic flips from the overnight stops (!!) . We plan to stay 2 nights in the Stellenbosch, Franschoek, Morningstar area as well as the Mosselbay area as there are plenty of beautiful places to see and one day just wont cut it!!!!

Unfortunately the trip is fully booked but should we pass through your area and you would like to join us for a flip in your trike or light aircraft to show us your beautiful patch please feel free to join us on the leg.

As always help is welcome so should you know of an open hanger for rent at one of these locations (or close by) or guys that are willing to help us out with transport to the hotel or garage please let me know. We will gladly buy you a beer or six for your troubles. Even if you cant help in any way you are still more than welcome to come join the Manne van Staal at the local pub for those beers and flying talk…

Cheers
