Eish- Been dreaming for years to go to one of these. But agree that 5k in Febr is a bit steep, maybe if entries closed six weeks before the there is ample time to plan. Also is this per plane per person ??? Me and softness R10K EINA. I might still go but can only confirm closer to the time.

Seems replies are also very slow in forthcoming so hard to tell if it's totally too late now - perhaps they didn't want more than 10 people :-(

I am really in no position to really comment as I have never done one before but I suspect the R5k per person is 90% responsible for the lack of interest. Is it really that expensive to organise and run or can that amount be reduced perhaps. Maybe then the interest will be bigger. Remember that is nowhere near your full cost - you still have to fly there and back + buy fuel for there. Just wondering. Also don't know what kind of permissions are needed to fly there - does the land belong to farmers in the area etc. etc. I'm a member of the Landcruiser club of SA and perhaps one can investigate another way to do this - guys supply their own provisions and we can maybe make a plan to get it there etc. etc. Just thinking out loud...

Hi Guy's

Yes the bundu is canceled due to the fact that 10 people registered on time and only 4 of the 10 made a payment before the cut off date.

Yes there was a couple of people phoning after the cut off to ask if they can come but there is a reason why there is a cut off date!!

Just to give some info to the people that has never been on the bundu what it takes to orgenise an event like this.

Firsly, T shirts and hats and tops has to be made before hand , for that we need to have the registrations and sizes of all the guy's attending.
Secondly the bundu is 200km for the nearest town, so feul has to be taken to Hakskeen pan and to the firts stop over. Then all the pilots have to have feul on hakskeen for 5 days and for feul back to Upington. The food people have drive 100km with all the stuff they need to be able to provide food for everyone 4 times a day, toilets has to be taken out there , showers , tables , chairs, drinks, ext , everything that is needed for you to have a good time. Ground grew for your sleeping stuff has to be orgenized.

I can tell you that Orgenizing the Bundu is no small task, it takes my mom more than 6 months to get everything ready to run smoothly. We have to orgenize with the farmers who owns the ground to be able to use the pan for the event as well.

So the R5000-00 for the trip , includes all of this , it even includes you drinks for every day, your food 4 meals a day for 5 days , and all the other stuff you will be needing. yes it is expensive , but I promise you we have given it some thought to let the guy's come and cater for themselfs. But I can promise you it will not work.

Any way , it is sad to have ended the Bundu in such a way and to have had only 10 registration.

Regards

Eben Jnr
