To fly from the East Rand to the coast (North Coast.) is easy if you do it this time of the year..( May). It was realy like eating candy!!!
The weather was perfect, and just as my fellow aviators told me " coast fly-ing is wonderfull"
The wind never worried us..!!
My aerie was never running more than 5000rpm..Whilst here on the Highveld 5800 rpm,s are the norm..
My side kick, Mr Asterix was a wonderful flight commander and he worked our flightplan out to the smallest detail..If ever you want to fly somewhere and you have him in your team, be assured that you will be informed on ground and in air of any possable danger that might exsist..
Then the people at Ezulweni...What a wonderfull lot of lekker Boere mense daar in die hart van soutie wereld...
The owner and all his buddies were there to welcome us and see to our well-beeing..Joshia, Piere en Joggie, baie dankie vir julle raad en bystand en belangstelling..
This was the first time myself and James my buddy has undertaken this type of thing and to me it was wonderfull to experience the hospitality that awaited us at our destination..
We met a lot of other interresting people, all okes who are keen on fly-ing...everyone was signaficant in his way...Paul (my naamgenoot en Radio Boffin) AKA ZULU 1, Dawid and his wife, I think his name was who landed with his Foxbat with lyttle runway left and Mike the very kind gentleman who organized the event with his Gyro and many more other local pilots.
I will be happy to join a similar event next year and if ever you want to go to the coast with your craft next year, this is the route to take..
From my farm near Groblersdal it was 7 and a half hours to Ezulweni and 7 back..We did about 8 hours flying up and down the coast.I took 300 photos...We tried to land on the beach but was a biekie bang after we saw a landrover parked at the spot where we intended to land.
I fle about 2000 Km.!!!
It was great..!!! Thanks to everybody...en dankie vir daardie lekker droe wors wat ek op Beginsel in Standerton gekry het.!!!
Ek praat jou thaal...
