Well, the Kroon guys could not fly in because of low clouds (Red and White Radio mast completely covered) but then we decided we would drive in for those famous boerie rolls.

When we arrived there, there were some brave pilots. Turbo Goose in the Turbo Kit Fox, Mike in his Bantam and a Fox Bat. But then, the bravest of them all, John.com arrived, the only Trike.

Thank you Sue, it was great meeting you.

Yes, thanks Sue . . . sure it was windy, but it was still great fun! Your boerie rolls rock! (^^)

I know the weather was a little rough but I can without hesitation say that it was my finest flying hour to-date (20mins there and 40mins back! ). WHAT FUN and an awesome learning experience! However, without my Garmin 695 I would not have taken off! I hit HEAVY cloud coming over the northern ridge and had to fly on my instruments for quite some time before the clouds opened up and I could see Sue's Strip! Same thing going home - flew above the cloud at 7000ft until descending through the cloud to Aeroden!!! Back at Aeroden I did three fairly tricky but successful '90 degree' crosswind landings on 18! (^^)

I could well be out there again tomorrow!! (-)

Here's the pic of the valley, looking from the dam up towards Sue's Strip . . . .

Super of all of you to drive and fly thru. The boerie was finished- always a good sign. Thanks for the generous donations guys and gals. Till next time.
