Iesh, the wind can make you worried..!! Monday morning decided the wind was to strong and will have to stay another night over at Eagle Flight..
David agreed..and I started reading the newspaper.
About 7h30 I noticed the windmill was turning slower..and thought I will get David,s opinion about whether I should fly or nor..His comment, “you are the pilot..”..Conclution,….. I,m the pilot, my life, my decision,,!!!
By 8h10 I managed to take off.,,
Had a lovely cross tailwind from the Norh West and I was aiming to reatch Glens farm, about 20 KNT m North of Bothaville in one go. Distance 103 Knt m…The flight was as smooth as you can pray for with a cross tailwind.
.At Bothaville the tailwind got rid of me… The last 20 Knt m or so was done at a mutch slower pace.
Anyway I average 52 Knt,s. It sounds slow but occasionally I flew at 70 to 75 groundspeed,..
Thanks to the very handy, Airfield,s Directorey of Southern Africa, I manage to find not only a landing strip very close to Nampo but also place to hanger and sleep and met the two most wonderful persons nl Robey and his wife. Sorry, but I don’t want to take a chance to spell her name. …!!
I visited Nampo the next day..My host borrowed me his vehicle..
Long storey short…..Nothing can be compared with Nampo..Go and see for yourselves..Worth a visit..

Robey, my host, is a trike pilot, plus, plus, plus.
For the second time this year I had the taste of the most wonderful mutton cooked by an expert.

Today, 16 May I left their farm (Glen) for a destination I was not sure of cause of heavy mist..Was hoping to reach Parys but listening and asking other Pilot I soon found out it was not to be..Had to do a precautionary on what looked like a old runway for cropsprayers..That was after wasting half an hr searching for a suitable place to land..
Made a couple of calls once on the ground and decided to take a chance and fly over a section of mist..
Left the abandoned runway at 09H10 and landed at Microland at 11h10..
Total distance 113 Knt miles and total time 3 hrs 10 min.
I should mention I wanted to land at Klipriver because of the thermals, and then at Springs again, also because of thermals, but I did not, and is still alive..!!!
