As a student pilot with 14 hrs on the clock I am humbled by these guys who spent 1 and a half days here in East London with us. After chatting with them and learning so much from their accumalated knowledge I wish to thank them and wish them happy and safe flying on their trip. They left here this morning in rainy weather and the predictions down the coast are not all that great. THANKS guys for your warmness and spirit. Keep the shower gell in your pocket because so far from home you will need it  (^^) (^^) (^^)

Hi Bluemax

Yes all three the guys that flew in to the Nylstroom are part of the tour including 'die groot ou' nicnamed Big Man. No problem The Manne van Staal are always up for a drink. (^^)

We have made it to Happy Valley in the early morning but got grounded due to wind coming up the valley although the wx is perfect in CT. If wx permits we will try to fly to Morningstar this afternoon. otherwise we will see the morningstar guys tomorrow.

Happy flying and keep the eyes on the big blue........

The Manne van Staal landed safely at Springs yesterday afternoon after a flight from Carnavon to Tempe and then on to Springs. After a delay at Carnavon due to mist we decided to bite the bullet and took of at 9:00h pushing for Springs at 17:30.

We as a group would like to thank the guys that made us feel so welcome at Morningstar. Within minutes of our arrival there we had a hanger for all 4 trikes. While finding out what hotel was closest, Denel, a Bosbok pilot from Morningstar invited us to stay in his fully equiped hanger. With the words " please make use of everything here" we had been given 4 beds, a full bathroom, a bar, living room, stocked kitchen, hot water and even a vehicle to use during our stay there! Thanks again Denel it was more than we ever expected.

From Morningstar we tried to fly the Cape area for two days but WX was not kind to us and forced us to go see the cape from the car. A three hour cap in WX saw the Manne van Staal make their way up the coast to Lamberts Bay as all the bad WX was pushing in from the inland. On arrival at Lambertsbay the hanger was already open for the Manne to park the trikes. Finding out it was the "kreef fees" in Lambers Marcelle said that finding accomodation would be impossible and invited us to overnight with them. Needless to say we went to the lobster festival and had lobster untill we could not move. Thanx again Marcelle. Oh yes the pittekou made it safely home!

The Manne made a short but very very scenic hop to Carnavon where Rob picked us up and took us to our hotel. A nice evening in the Blikkies Bar followed with some HUGE T-Bones and good laughs.

A total of 4000km was flown at an ave groundspeed of 65mph. Thanks to Big man, Wingman, Lone Ranger and MadDog for a very special trip.

YES the photos will follow soon.

I think they were the manne van water!!!!

They missed a fantastic flying weekend in the Baviaanskloof, only their Straydog managed to join us, on Thursday in Grahamstown, and left this morning - Monday - back to Smoke town.

Well done, sorry we missed you!
