Must find V2 and V3 mod pics later...these are 2yrs+

Test runs on V3 start tomorrow or bit later today

Lessons learnt, don't plan more than a week ahead as it always changes and you never have time for hobbies. Do it yourself. Don't trust websites based on looks. Many experts aren't. Ignore fence shouting critics. Ignore fear encouraging risk condriacts (such a word?). Switch off all 3 cellphones. Projects are TOUGH without buddy emotional support. Patience is not a virtue it's both a curse and a godsend. South African aviation standard higher that most, not talking about CAA but the general SA pilot and in a good way. When they say experimental overseas, they mean it (Will post broken / inferior inside part pics...). Ppl who ask about engine weight are asking the wrong questions ($$) . You can't work on your ml from the office (**) . Not all car engines are meant for flying, the manufacturer is not the only indication of reliability in the sky. Rain is wet. :!:

Schedule was kinda like put food on table (6 months), experiment on plane for 2 weeks, work for food for 6...it didn't help having expired licenses, lost CAA documents, medicals, 5+ppl at CAA, managing a 30employee co with subsequent retrenchments :( (economy) and having a baby xxx , hanger rash and the death of a close friend who assisted with the conversion. All VERY VERY demotivating and lastly unintended pressure from the forum. To the point I couldn't bring myself to even visit. ...as guest.

After I've had some proper fun with fellow pilots like say 6 months of normal triking only then will I work on next mod, got a spanking new 180hp engine I want to fiddle with, same weight as this one. Gyro's...

Story / highlights to follow within the week after a hopefully successful V3 run tomorrow. With lull in business taking timeout from the family and working on Tobie puff

FWIW Tobie was a name given by ol AndreB years back.

Hi,
Beautifull Project ! (^^) (^^) (^^)
To me it looks like a 3Cyl. Suzuki.
Did You have to add any extra weight to the front to keep that front wheel so low ?

It's a 2.5 Gearbox Ratio with a Suzuki G10 Turbo. I have a Smart Car engine infact it was one I tested in the workshop, it was cheaper but I had a few issues.

Here's a link, sorry for my editing skills first time.

Jaco, I didn't need to add weight, however I did move as many things as I could from the onset, forward. On my trike the Radiator and battery already sit forward. I was initially concerned about frontal weight as I removed all the analog instruments and replaced it with a MGL unit.

The installed weight is around 5kg LESS than a 912.

Apart from my "elementary" vibration test above the rest were pretty much stat driven. Around 20 hours of ground runs. 10 of Crow hops.

Seems you guys doing the Yaris stuff got it easy (!!) , CAA wanted me to do a drop test. (**)

Wonderfull Stuff,
Thanks for the feedback. s023
I Like your Video vhpy =D* =D* =D* s023

One small surgestion : About the open pulleys on the front of the engine :!:
A Couple of years ago a girl's hair got cought on a Gokart's axle which killed her instantly by breaking her neck.
A Scarf or any loose clothing
We closed all moving parts in the front of the motor with a thin aluminium cover.

Cheers.

I heard about a hair story, not sure if the same. I had an allu cover on till recently. Shot for the comments :!:

I have got a clip of a circuit too when i was doing initial flight tests. Shortest take off avg both directions on run way was 53m to clear 15ft, acc to mgl unit.

Hi Dieselfan
Please give some feedback on how the Suzi is going and if not too personal some ballpark costing figures for some of us who would possibly like to try this power plant.
