OG

I see that there is a Porsche 911 in the background with (skande!) some junk on top of it! Also seems to be very dusty?

This is totally unacceptable!!!!!!!!!

Please remedy the situation as this is an insult to my sensibilities.

Yours faithfully

I f you have a problem with the Porsche come and visit from OZ and you can fix the Porsche it is all original and I was the first owner. When the Bosvark is finished she will get the same energetic attention. The Bosvark must first fly. At this stage rather ask something about the technical stuff that I've been posting. Later tonight you will see the exhaust in situ for its first fit like a suit from the tailor.

Oupa-G

Your thread is the first I read... thanks for the posts vhpy

Your exhaust quality looks stunning, it has all my attention now, I built a Savannah and the exhaust supplied by the Italians is stainless but they bugger it up with spot welding the baffles in position (or the used the wrong welding technique, I'm no expert). I'm sure you dont intend to do the same. They must have fixed this problem as all the newer Savs dont seem to have an issue (mine was about the first kit in SA).

Pic below is the exhaust after 126 hours.... pathetic.

Ian thanks please show me a bigger picture so that I can orientate myself. An Exhaust is such an important component you can start a fire and you can prevent a fire, we opt for the last option. The whole exhaust is now tacked and will then go to my expert welder. Vliegvark does a mean welding job . Once the Bosvark is flying I will report back and after 100hrs we will know about cracking although we have tried to eliminate oil canning.

Enjoy the pics

The previous pictures gave a view from the inside. We worked all Saturday fitted the outer cladding thanks to CAD design and laser cutting no more filing just perfect fits. The outer cannister is in three pieces this helps with the welding of the inside components. Then the three outer pieces are welded onto the inner structure, and "Voila"

Some more pics

VERY nice Sir :!:

He looks like he is welding the baffles in, not a spot weld so it shouldn't do what mine did. (but then I'm just a part time builder, not dragon flame metal glueing expert...)

If your header pipe works it's gonna save plenty people a lot of time..

Here is a pic which shows my previous pic in perspective

2nd pic is my spring fitter, no scratching of the spring loop, works great...

Thanks Ian

From the discoloration the hot gases go in at the outer section and then flows to the center section and then outwards ala Rotax muffler , our one cyl breaths along the full length then through all the holes anthen into the exhaust pipe the ofset is the same as the ofset of the cylinders. I'll send some more pictures after I have taken them.

All the tacking was done the concept seems to fit running the engine and flying it on Vliegvark which has a standard BMW exhaust will tell we will fly it with the same prop. Weight Bosvark exhaust 4.5kgs complete the standard BMW exhaust 10kgs wE WILL SEE HOW NOISY IT IS.
