Cape Town - Gyro Instruction

Postby karibi » Fri Jun 06, 2008 7:38 pm

Hi, I am visiting Cape Town from the UK for two weeks holiday in early October. Having previously visited Cape Town and done most of the tourist things and I would like to use this visit as an opportunity to get some flying experience in a Gyro. I have previously experience in 3 Axis microlight and have recently had a go in the MT-03 in the UK. I am looking for a training school which is commutable from Cape Town which could offer flight training in an Magni, MT-03, ELA-07 etc.

Any recommendations, contact details would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks - Chris

Hi Chris

The two main gyro flying schools within the Western Cape are:

Aerosport http://www.aerosport.co.za/ situated at Fisantekraal airfield - about a 40 min drive from the centre of Cape Town. Contact Louis van Wyk. The school has a Magni

and

Western Cape Flying Training Centre http://www.wcftc.co.za/ situated in Saldanha - about a 1.5hr drive from Cape Town. Contact Johann Froneman.
The school has an Ela

This sound like the best possible way of spending a Cape Town holiday.

I am not sure about the dates but the SAGPA (South African Gyro Pilots Association) AGM is scheduled for October in Cape Town.

Will keep you posted then you can meet the rest of the croud.

Yes

Cloudbase mentioned that he will put a flightplan together, probably coastwise.

Will finally decide closer to the time, but I think it will be great!!!!!!!!

Will finally meet the Cape Town guys as well.
