Hi,

don't know if this is the right forum, but I need assistance in the requirements to obtain a Gyro license. I already have a LSA license.

What would the requirements be in term of flying hours, RAASA exams, etc?

The Law states the following:

From PPL & LSA > Gyro?

Up to a maximum of 10 hours credit, which comprises;
Credit for 5 hrs solo and 5 hrs dual flying time
Minimum 20 hrs dual instruction flying
Minimum 10 hrs solo flying
Two exams which are principles of flight gyro and engines and airframes
Skills test with a grade A or B instr

The application forms required are:

The skill test CA 62.05
Conversion application CA62.06

To be clear. To use the credit for the ppl one need only go 15 hours dual and 5 hours solo?

Rob, unless I am wrong (which is known to happen), the way I see it interpreted is that you require a minimum of 20 hours of which a minimum of 10 must be dual and a minimum of 10 must be solo in order to qualify for the minimum. If it takes you 15 hours dual before you go solo, then you still have to do 10 hours solo.
Please also note that it is not a conversion but a totally new category of license. Even though it may fall in a similar weight category, a Gyro is NOT a microlight. This is only important if you intend to land at airfields that do not allow microlights. If you are transponder equipped in a New Generation Gyro you have the same rights (and performance ...except for in-ground effect hover) as a helicopter - except we prefer the runway for takeoff and landing due to safety considerations.
