I would like to know what the average annual/100 inspection on two sweater gyro should be with no snags. Would really appreciate some input

Janpilot, I can only comment on the Rotax 914UL side of things.
Each machine has its own scheduled maintenance/part replacement interval so I cannot comment on control rod-ends, bearings, cables etc.
You will normally need, as a minimum:
3.2ltr oil. Shell Advance or equivalent. Your POH will tell you the right kind to use.
1 x Oil filter
1 x Airfilter (or old one properly cleaned and oiled)
2 x Fuel Filters
8 x Sparkplugs
Depending on where you source these the costs may vary slightly.
For the Engine Service you could expect an AP to charge you for 2.5 hours at between R350 and R450 an hour.

Thanks, Gyronaut
I fly a Xenon and need to do an annual for commercial certification and have just had a 50 hour oil and plug change done, and was still quoted R5 500 - a bit on the steep side

So no service required, just an inspection? @ R450 an hour it means it is going to take this AP/AMO 12.2 hours to do the inspection? 2 hours (R900) should be more than adequate.
I think you are being had. Find another AP or insist this one gives you a breakdown of his charge.
Lots of us would be very interested to see what you are being charged for.

Greetings JanPilot,
Maybe you could get the agent to allow you to buy in to the "1000 hr. Maintenance Plan" they advertise? Just a thought!

Ashley

Greetings JanPilot
Here is part of a posting that was made under the XENON thread. Hope this helps you.

One of the other major advances being made is that there is a process being put in place to finance the gyros and also to carry out insuring the machines inhouse. The plan is also to have a 1000hr warranty and service plan in place. The idea being to ensure that the owner can just fly the machine. With the advanced computer system onboard, it is possible to manage the maintenance offsite and focus on preventative maintenance. Maintainability and reliability is designed into the system and the 10 000 hrs of commercial experience guided the effort. Support is rendered by mobile support teams. This has also been tested with the commercial operations and a high availablity of the machines can be guaranteed. A fixed wing aircraft is also being prepared to be used by the technicians (flying spanners) where urgent or quick maintenance is required and speed is of the essence.
See the February edition of the African Pilot magazine for more information.
Greetings and keep on dreaming.

I think that's just marketing "bull", the proof is in the actual execution of support, which is clearly provided at a price! You got suckered!
Isn't there a conflict of interest having Braam as a CAA employee representative for gyro's and involved in the Xenon?

I just did a 100h service for a client and it cost him R2800.00
It all depends on what the ap charges per hour and what needs replacement acoording to your gyro maintanance sheet for 100h.
For a annual i charge R750 for the inspection.
