T minus 2 months

Postby Tinkerbell » Sun Apr 29, 2012 4:13 pm

It was very difficult to say goodbye to my loyal friend. She took me places I have never been, highs and lows. She taught me about myself and how far I can push myself. There were tears, and ecstasy. A childhood dream were realised when I first took to the skies. In the end it wasn't about the aircraft, it was about soaring with the birds, touching the clouds, understanding my own smallness within God's creation. But the sound of the rotor in a bank, the rush of lifting off, the feeling of fullfilment after putting her away in the hangar, that's what made gyro flying happiness. When I had to leave her behind, it was terrible. And I miss DZA.
BUT, now there is a new baby on her way. I can't wait to strap myself in her seat, spin her up and start a new adventure. I can't wait to push myself even further, to learn even more. We haven't met yet, but I'm already proud. I don't know her call name yet, but she's mine, and the excitement is getting too much. Little Cali, I'll see you soon.

I can understand the exitment, but the wait is difficult. You almost sound lika an expecting mother that went for the first sonar...

We are just back from Germany where we flew with one of the world's most experienced instructors, Thomas Kiggen. What a privilege. I also was introduced to Cali, my new gyro. Although I couldn't fly her myself, I was taken up for a quick flip by Nicholas, Autogyro's test pilot. I can't wait to be able to fly my gyro. The wait is going to be agony! Isn't she beautiful?
