Guess who's MPL expired at end June 08?

Postby MILO » Tue Aug 19, 2008 10:48 am

:(> (**) Thinking of changing my handle to Bio plus cause at least that gives you mental energy!
My medical expires end Sept 08 - I just ASSUMED my MPL was around the same date....NOT. Licence says Expiry date DDMMYYYY...subject to a relevant valid medical. (Not either/or) **
Submission for a new handle would be appreciated..... JONGWE, chop & d....head have already crossed my mind.
Check your licence & I hope you don't join the club.

I had a freind who had the same problem, he used to fly a Cessna 182 Turbo Fixed Gear from Johannesburg, except... his medical expired a month before his PPL! I remember his STRESS when he couldn't fly! (**)

Yes your MPL is a 2 year licence, your medical is 1, 3 or 5 years depending on age and medical conditions. BTW there is no panic if either expire, no fines etc. The only thing is you will not be able to fly solo without them. I let my medical expire for 6 months while I was getting the EPH fixed by Boet. No use in wasting 6 months of medical on non flying.

So you have to renew it every 2 years? :?
Does this Cost? :?

Airborne again... Sweet. It is not to much of a mission. I handed in my form, copy of medical cert (I do not think they needed it) as well as an excel summary of my hours, for the last year, six months, split dual/PIC and by aircraft and total.
I paid R520 for 2 years, handed them in at 12:00 & walked out one 1/2 hours later with my licence. I must have picked a good day.

I saw a lot of SA Flyer magazines but no one reading them. They must all be subscribers or the guys are sharing the mags (saving for a litre of fuel). Maybe some FHM's would help ease the wait.

Hi Trikenute,

It is your choice whether you want for one or 2 years. Cost per year is the same, but not longer than 2 available!!

Me not so lucky - Medical once a year for Class II

I treat it as my yearly check up so not a big deal. This year though, I kept on getting a flu bug just before my envisaged run on the treadmill.

Now my PPL renewal (every second year) month and medical month co-incide. I can plan better.

No, No fines, nothing, but if they catch you flying with expired licence, basically you are flying with no licence
