MUST AGREE WITH YOU BOATCH. THAT WAS EXCACTLY THE ROUTE I FOLLOWED AS WELL. I GOT MY NICKNAME BOOMARANG FROM FLYING RADIO CONTROLED. FLEW TO FAR AWAY AND LOST VISUAL ON THE AIRCRAFT. IN A MOMENT OF SHEER DESPERATION I FLEW THE PLANE PURELY ON IMAGINATION. WHEN I THOUGHT SHE HAS TURNED 180 DEGREES BACK TO ME I KEPT HER STRAIGHT AND LEVEL AND IN A ONE IN A MILLION CHANCE GOT A VISUAL ON HER AGAIN, FLYING NOT QUITE STRAIGHT BACK, BUT CLOSE ENOUGH FOR ME TO REGAIN CONTROL AND LAND HER SAFELY. OBVIOUSLY I TOOK THE CREDIT AND THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE(MOSTLY UNDER 7 YEARS OLD) THAT LOOK AT ME IN AWE AFTER MY DISPLAY OF FLYING SKILL, ICE COLD NERVE AND ABSOLUTE CALM UNDER SUCH EMENSE PRESSURE 8)

GOT INTO MY TRIKE AGAIN LAST NIGHT, THIS TIME WITH HELMET, EARPHONES ETC. SAT THERE FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES SAYING THINGS LIKE "BOGEY EIGHT O CLOCK HIGH" AND OTHER PHRASES I COULD REMEMBER TOM CRUISE SAYING IN vhpy TOP GUN. NOT THAT I COULD REMEMBER A LOT, SAW IT IN A DRIVE INN AND THE GIRL WAS NOT INTO WARMOVIES............

SOME ADVISE TO OTHER BEGINNERS LIKE ME: DO NOT PUT THE VISOR ON YOUR FLYING HELMET DOWN AND THEN ATTEMPT TO SIMMULATE THE SOUND OF A ROTAX WITH YOUR LIPS......TOOK ME TEN MINUTES TO CLEAN THE INSIDE OF THE VISOR.

Sorry bout the caps lock thing. When i were at school only moffies took typing. should have been a moffie for a year. now i'm confined to two fingers, so the less i have to operate on the keyboard the better! Like I said in the beginning, any advice will be appreciated.thanks

first lesson at vereeniging airport with Bossie Bosman from Rainbow (Russel Birds place) hopefully it will be on Saturday or Sunday this weekend. finished the dual convertion and only have to fit the wing as it is still in the sleeve after bringing it here two weeks ago.
really can't wait anymore

GOT FEDUP WITH THE WEATHER AND DECIDED TO START TRAINING.........NO HARM IN GETTING SOME TERBULANCE TRAINING FROM THE START.

Started with stalls (which was a bit dicey I know because the hanger roof is quite low and does not allow much space to recover) and once i got them down to a tee proceeded to practicing engine outs and engine failure on take off. Weather was geting really bad and decided to land and call it a day.In any case the rain on the hanger roof was making such a racket that I could not practice the engine outs anymore as I could not hear the engine anyway. Considering I was making the engine sound with my lips (with the visor up this time) it was quite scary to not know if the motor was running or not and I kept on having to turn arround and look at the prop to make sure!

After landing I wiped the instruments with a soft cloth as Low Level advised and wiped my chin (no matter how you try, simulating a rotax sound at 5500rpm with your lips are a messy business). Then I hugged her and put the cover over gently .

If all goes well and according to plan I should start the real training on 22 february. Will in the mean time keep my private training in the hanger to a minimum as I do not want to start bad habits, already I am doing steep turns at 5 feet staight after take off!
