Chainsaw 2-stroke, it's for aircooled motors

Super OUtboard is for water cooled motors, like the 582, but Chainsaw will also work here

RTFM. Read The Ferkin Manual. Then do as the book says.
1 For air Cooled motors use API spec / Super chainsaw oil
2 For water cooled motors use TCW 3 spec/ Super outboard plus.
End of argument. I do not want us to enter this one again. vhpy
For interests sake: Crank problems is an area bound problem.
Some "expert" believes that "Wonderwizz moerse baie nommers"
XXX brand oil is best....(When REALLY it is`nt) And all the
ignorants are lead down the same wrong road like a lot of sheep to the slaughter.
Same with 2-stroke engines seizing up.

Hi Guys,

Some information which is probably just going to add to the confusion vhpy

In the past two months, two 503's from the club I where fly from, had their rings stick in the pistons, resulting in loss of compression.

Both of them were taken to Solo Wings where they were repaired, and the advice which they were given was to stay away from chain saw oil because, unless your prop is under pitched, your engine should not reach 13 000rpm vhpy

These engines had both been run on chain saw oil, the recommendation from Dave Miller was to use Castrol superT or 2T cannot recall exactly.

Only passing this on because of my great respect for Dave Miller and his experience and knowledge, and in the hope that it prevents someone elso going through the same unecessary experience / cost

One of the best we use is BP Vistra 250 full sinthetic two stroke oil.Ideal for 503 and excellent oil.Bit of expensive but much cheaper than a 503 engine. You get them for a good price if you buy a box of 24 at the BP depots.Check the link below.

Hmmmm, becareful sires...

The oil you mix must be the same as the oil in the rotary valve oil resevoir methinks - I've been using Caltex Super 2T all along. I don't think it is wise though to chip & change!

Yes otherwise "gelling" can occur. But it is only critical if the one is synthetic and the other mineral. If you have always used mineral and you have mineral in the reservoir and you can't get your favorite Super Outboard, any other mineral oil of the same spec can be used.

Heard this week, that according Niren at Aviation Engines, the best 2-/ oil to use is "Shell advance S". Didn't say whether Mineral or Synthetic.
