Howzit guys,
I have just recieved my new Vertex VX220 VI radio.
Seems really nice.
It comes with the ability to recieve on the NAV band. Can someone explain to me how this function works? I don't get it, and the manual says nothing about it, apart from the fact that it is able to recieve withing the NAV frequency range.
Huh???

Don't know the Vertex but may be able to tune into VORs and give you a course bar to navigate to it and distance from it.

Don't know much about this VOR nav stuff, but Mogas is correct. I bought my plane with the VXA 210 installed, and downloaded the manual from the net.
The 210 needed an extra chip installed to be able to do the Nav, and mine didn't have it, but here is extracts from the manual I've downloaded. Hope it is readable.
If you think it may be of help, I can scan and e-mail, or fax the nav part to you.

Yes.....BUT
The VXA-220 can receive on the NAV band (108-118MHz), but does not have a VOR function.
As useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle
The VXA-210 and VXA-300 has the built in VOR

Well...Maybe not quite that useless
Many of the large airports have the ATIS on the NAV frequencies. Very useful for getting weather and other info.
Cape Town (FACT) used to have it 115.7 MHz (same as CTV VOR) until they moved it to 127.00 (Com)
So there is still a use for it...
BTW, the VXA-220 is a really nice radio
