Hi Guys,

This is a newbie question.

I have no experience on 582 engines, although I know the specs. My Naked Trike fly with 503.

Question: What is the difference between a silver top and a blue top??
(Specs,Size,Weight,etc)

Not to sure but performance wise it's the same thing.

I do believe the Blue Top is just an improvement on the Silver. There's extra cooling and some engine parts were improved, making it a more durable motor.

But I stand to be corrected

No specification difference, the Silver Top was superceded by the Blue Top and is no longer in production. Apparently Rotax solved some cooling problems on the Blue Top.

Only "specification difference" that I know of is -

Silver top has a normal type rotary valve oil seal, and the

Blue top has a ceramic oil seal.

The upgrade resulted from too many failures on the silver top (oil in water / water in rotary valve oil).
