Hi there
I had a loss of power on about 300ft with 2 up and there was the end of the runway50ft in front of me. The motor was just losing power and there was one way and that was down. After the nurves had calmed down i wanted to know wat the cause was,so i started at the jets that i had just replaced because the trike was baught at the coast . Took old jets put them back and walla the motor was right ,after insp the other jets i found a piece of rubber inside the jet and that was the cause of the loss of power.

Well diagnosed but the next thing is to try to find out where the rubber came from, could be brittle fuel pipes, the diaphram of the fuel pump breaking up etc. Would it have been possible for the piece of rubber to have made it's way through the fuel filter?. Maybe the new jets had the rubber in all along from the packaging. All the questions...........

Well now, let me see.......when I was a laaitie, we used to buy it from the local cafe but you had to speak softly and get it from under the counter. Nowadays they sell them anywhere, even vending machines.........

Yes, you can find it everywhere these days !

I think the mistake here was in not reading the instructions, the rubber should go over the OUTSIDE of the jet to be safe and not on the inside of the jet

Maybe it was too long and cut it shorter...................at the front

In the old SA we use to get plastics free and pay for rubber, now we get rubber free and pay for plastic.

Tell me, was the RUBBER SABS Approved or was it the reject ones....?
