Hi all.

Does anybody have any experience with the Warp Drive 72 inch 2 blade propeller? Available from Comet for just over R5K (http://cometaviationsupplies.co.za/inde ... ct_id=2113

I have A Rotax 503 DCDI and the choice of either a b- or a c-gearbox - have one of each. Together with that I also have a Pieter de Necker wood prop - 63x34 if I remember correctly. The prop has a small crack in the trailing edge, but I am sure it can be repaired - still have to confirm and get a price for that.

The engine/gearbox/prop will go on a Scout cart with Windlass wing, which I am busy rebuilding (She went back on her wheels this past weekend )

I need to choose between repairing the P Prop and use with b-box (because I have it and will likely cost me the least to get into the air, but will performance be OK?), get a Warp 2 blade to use with the c-box (because it is a really good price, but I cannot find any info on it's performance), or get a new NC or P Prop (proven, but expensive).

What would you do?

I will defnitely go for the c-box with the NC prop. We have a scout flying in potties with a e-box and a NC prop and it flies extremely well.

It is expensive but worth the money.

The ratio of the e-box on Willie's scout is 3,47.

We have two-bladed propellers are used very rarely.
All switched to three-bladed propellers.
They are always quieter and more comfortable to use.
For Rotax 503 with gear B 1 / 2.58, I recommend a three-bladed 1600 mm 63 ".
There is an option with straight blades and Sabre.
Sabre has certainly quieter and pull her up.
But it is more expensive - 540 €.
Straight blade - 450 €.
The maximum thrust of 140 kg (standard conditions).
In the case of third gear can apply a three-bladed propeller diameter of 1700 mm.
Link will reach 145 kg.
Only in the case of the gear 1 / 3.47 can be applied three-bladed propeller of 1750 mm 69 ".
Link to nearly 150 kg.
Two-bladed propellers are also possible, but thrust them below, and the noise is always higher.
But they are cheaper.
Two-blade carbon propeller diameter 1820 mm 72 "Sabre is 430 € and direct 390 €.

Another feature: Propellers large diameter will deteriorate with increasing speed.
They are only good at the start.

And if anyone is interested - Contacted Warp Drive and they do not not recommend using this prop on a trike/503.

There is also Nigel Coats, NC composite props, in Johannesburg. Be aware of the import duties and shipping charges on imported aviation components.

Yes, 50 € is shipping to South Africa.

During this time, quite a lot of our propellers went to South Africa. I hope the owners are happy.
