T/BIrd Fuel Consumption

I met two gents at the airfield this weekend who fly Rotax 582 equipped Thunder Birds. Both of them use about 20 litres per hour down here at the coast  Is that normal?

Hi Griffin,

20 lts/hr sounds a bit high to me (unless 2 really big okes and trying to fly fast, which t-birds don't do well).

I've just got back from Dragon Peaks flying solo most of the time. Average for the whole weekend (±15 hours flying) was 17 lts/hr. I have a stratomaster fuel flow thingy, and if I fly really carefully, I can maintain 60 mph at about 15.5 lts/hr, but it takes lots of work.

The specs list it as 15l/hour at 6000ft so the 20l/h seemed a bit high at the coast. I wonder if the prop pitch setting could be the problem?
