There's no real "first signs" of sticking rings in my opinion. I would look out for low, or no compression first.
As a matter of course, the first thing I do when I get to my plane, is to turn the prop over a few times. I have learnt more or less what the compression should feel like. If it feels "soft", check for sticking rings.
Also, running overly rich will eventually lead to sticking rings as well.
Other members will no doubt add some more :D
And do you get an adaptor plate to fit a B-Box on a 5 HP Bricston Straten motor
No, I doubt very much if you will get an adaptor plate for a Bricston Straten motor

but you can make one yourself for a Briggs & Stratton motor :D :D

Hey Duckie
Maybe he just wants to built a noise converter to explain the differrence between a "menace" and a flying machine!!

All you do is take your machine and place next to a non-believer. Start it and prove your point!! :D simple.

I'm guessing he's thinking about building a go-cart

No No.
You all got it all wrong
It is the only motor I can afford to replace my 503 with if necessary, but if you guys feel that there is no problem looking like a flying steam train when over flying our airstrip,

then I suppose I don't need to think about replacing the motor.

I think I just need to start by changing back to the first type of oil that I used and see what happens.

Dont worry about it Bennie

........ ive seen the guys from the aerobatics teams (eg chubb) filling the sky with smoke as they fly , it seems to be a crowd pleaser

......... their rings are probably sticky from too much two stoke in their fuel

... (and they say our planes are unsafe)
Fly safe :D

Today, Dude!...straight after I fitted my new cowling.
And it will be flying tomorrow after the results of today's speed trials :D
All of this happened whilst yours is sitting in the hangar...without a prop and a reduction drive
