Had an interesting chat to a Rep from Wynn's. He races motorbikes, and they have done tests on two-stroke made by Stihl (it is a German company manufacturing some of the best chainsaws etc in the world). He said that they found there is no smoking even going down to 40:1 mix, but most important NO carbon biuld-up on the sparkplugs, head and exhaust. So I phoned Stihl agents and they told me that almost all the forestry contractors have changed from using Castrol Super Chainsaw oil (which they sold) to the Stihl oil. They say that is equal, if not better than TTS! And at R150/5L incl. not bad.
I have been using Castrol Super Chiansaw oil and have had to clean the plugs every 5 hours to enable an electric start, if I don't, I have to pull start. After 10 hours of no cleaning, I battle to even pull start.
Two-stroke
I have recently installed a new 503 on my trike. It was run-in on Castrol TT, but I want to use chainsaw oil from now onwards (currently only one hour on the Hobbs).
The most commonly used is Castrol Super chainsaw, but TrytoFly has mentioned Stihl Chainsaw oil with good smoke(less) qualities.
Is there anyone that is currently using the Stihl product and can compare with Castrol.
