95hp upgrade to 912UL

Postby Beenthere » Wed Mar 28, 2007 5:37 pm

I am thinking of having the 95hp upgrade done to a 500 hour 912UL. Does anyone have any knowledge on this upgrade. The reports I have heard have been good, looking for local experience. The local Rotax AMO chap says its OK.........

The Raven I hire apparently has this conversion.

According to the owner, it is not worth it. He reckons you don't really get a prop to match this engine config. (The plane does have a variable pitch prop) He did give me a more technical explanation which was impressive, but I can't really remember it.

Fact is, he has experience on every- and anything from 503 to 912S, trike and fixed and still doesn't recommend it. And yes, he probably does have a Rotax tattoo somewhere.
Planeless...
