Hi there, welcome. As the law stands currently, you either need a MPL or a PPL to fly. The RPL or sport pilot's lisence will only come into effect the 1st of Nov this year. Most of us are still waiting for clarity on the new lisence. Some guys will want to fly on a MPL purely from a cost perspective others may have a medical issue etc.
To come back to the Aircraft. The explorer And Bushbaby currently has an all up weight of 550kg, we are working on increasing it to 600kg hopefully before year end. There is a misprint on our website in this regard, it states 500kg.
Good points.
-Short field performer
-Increased cabin space
-Good load capacity
-Good crosswind capibility (larger tail feathers)
-Wings foldable
-Economical
-You can let the factory customize a lot on them
-Value for money
-Kit or factory build
-Nose or tail wheel
-Fly with doors open
-Proudly South African
-Versatile,safe and proven arround the block and further, fun for not too much, not going in a big hurry fishing, type of aircraft
Negative
-Not too fast 100-115mph
-You will love it too much to get rid of it
-luggage compartment not the biggest
-Not for to tall pilots, 1,9 ish will be a sqeeze
but then again, I am a bit one sided here. Talk to Explorer owners.
