I need some help please ..
I've come up with a pretty good idea for a home security device, possibly for use in a motor vehicle as well.
However, I cant create the device and am looking for a security company that has the resources and inclination, to partner with me to develop and to bring to market.
Does anyone know such a company that I can approach or introduce me to ?
Given that this has global potential, it would represent a significant chunk of cash.
Tks

I've done a similar exercise before and would advise that you spend some bucks to safeguard your design.
Research the market as far as possible to idenify what material and method required i.e. acetyl plastic- injection moulding e.t.c. and then consult with a patent attorney who will with a relatively simple drawing and description of its function register a 'patent pending'. This is internationally recognised and normally lasts for one year.
Thats the small money. During this period you can sourse your market and suppliers, moulds e.t.c. - injection moulders and alluminium extruders will charge you for the mould- big bucks- but retain the mould claiming development cost so it stays there- or market to a company to manufacture and distribute under license.
Remember, often companies express an interest merely to see what you have and how it compares to their products so expect a lot of run around. Also who you choose to partner with will determine where your product gets sold i.e. Independant harwares, franchise groups, corporate stores i.e. Pick 'n Pay e.t.c.
Once your term of 'patent pending' lapses you then have to decide how far and where you would like your patent registered. This is the crunch time by which you would have completed your marketing and secured agents because the registering of international patents is expensive and the Chinese show little repect for patents by tweaking your design slightly and flooding the mass market.
Something to think about.

Thanks all very the very sound advice. As it happens, a colleague of mine has family that are actively involved in the industry and are happy to work with me. Obviously I will do the NDA and things like that, cant afford for this one to slip away..
