I'm in the process of forming a partnership with the owner of a Jora. We want to insure the aircraft but it seems to be a very expensive exercise if the value of the aircraft is considered. I would be grateful for any advice as to how and where to insure a Jora for a partnership.

Depends on what your expectations are - my Bushbaby is comprehensively insured with DJ for R500 000 and it costs around R8 500 per year.

Almost all these guys will use Santam, so the key is really just to pick a reliable broker with a good reputation....the policy terms re WCM seem to be std throughout from what I found. There are some other underwriters but I've always been wary of "cheap insurance"....there's always a reason for that and it usually does not benefit you as the insured.

Either in repudiated claims or ridiculous excesses...
Bottom line is it's EXPENSIVE!
We are quoted (this will depend on your personal circumstances) at 6.75% per annum of the
hull value (aircraft value)....plus extra for the hanger cover and 3rd party.
We are fortunate due to the fact that my partner and I share the premium cost so that makes it affordable to us at least

.....but it's still a lot!
I think as you gain experience and assuming you have no claims, the cost will come down eventually.
There is NO passenger liability available to WCM unfortunately.....so make sure you don't hurt the PAX.

You sure you aren't a broker Bundy
As for getting cheaper, it does. If you don't claim to in the first year, your premium is discounted for the next and so on.
At some stage gyros rates were hovering around 6% but that I do believe has changed drastically.
Blik rates, depending on the type can be anywhere from 1.5% upwards....
