Thanks to MISASA's prize draw for a trip to oshkosh, i was the lucky winner, i had an awesome time at the world's biggest air show. One can not really know how many planes and people are there unless you attended it yourself. here are just a few pics of the nearly 2000 i took.
the south-african camp was a buzz between all the campers in their RVs.

from the air one could see how many planes and campers there were along the 5km runway of the Whitmann airfeild. this is just a small section where private pilots camped next to their planes.

the americans are really into home builds and ultra-lights of all kinds were shown. this is one of those for which no pilot's or plane license is required.

- UltraLight.jpg (37.52 KiB) Viewed 940 times
for those of us flying trikes this REVO must be the ferrari\rolls royce of trikes.

- trike.jpg (49.55 KiB) Viewed 940 times
the daily airshow with its variety of planes and acrobatics was a highlight.

- Acro.jpg (24.57 KiB) Viewed 940 times
one of the special planes was the Osprey with its unique engine configuration for taking off vertically and the flying like a normal plane.

- Osprey.jpg (26.16 KiB) Viewed 940 times
everybody looked forward to the display by the thunderbirds.

- Tbirds.jpg (21.58 KiB) Viewed 940 times
and in the bombing simulation they went all out with the biggest fire works.

all in all it was a great experience and i met the nicest of like minded aviation enthusiasts.
