Event Organisers & Safety Officers Take Note

A Safety officer and Flight Director training course, which will run over 2 days, is planned for the 14th and 15th of February 2014.
This circular contains detail of who should attend, what is being covered, and what is expected of officials involved with these Special Air Events.
Who Should Attend
* Anyone Interested in becoming a Safety Officer / Flight Director.
* Airshow/Special Air Event Organizers.
* ARO section members involved in managing events and competitions.
Requirements and Expectations
Typical Safety officers must have a reasonable understanding of General and sport aviation.
They need not be rated on every aircraft that participate in airshows, but must carefully observe every display to ensure the display is flown safely and to the sequence.
Training will be provided, and mostly relates to administration and the “rules of airshows”.
Manuals will be provided.
Reference to International Practice will be discussed and all matters relating will be covered.
Target
* To increase the pool of Safety Officers and Flight Directors.
* To increase the Safety, and decrease all Incidents and Accidents at Special Air Events.
