:D Sorry I missed out on meeting the Cape Town gang over the weekend, but after the Taxi charged me R850.00 for the trip from Waterfront to Morning star and back. I was forced to make a rational decision.

Thank you to Annette and David at Lamersey for their hospitality as usual and the assistance with picking up the spares for me.

Sorry Bennie, I was pushed for time, the wife was sitting at home dressed and ready to go out, I had all the buddies in the hangar helping out and I just couldn't get away. I would have definately come to pick you up.

What happened, if you got to Morning Star why did you not come in?

No No, I was there on a business conference for the weekend. Landed at Cape Town International on Friday morning, picked up by a bus, stranded and at the mercy of others for the rest of the weekend. Pretty annoying when you are used to coming and going as you pleases.

I really wanted to meet some of the Capetonians and maybe see some planes, but maybe better luck next time. I think I'll rather rent a car for the weekend next time I'm at the airport might be cheaper than hopping on a Taxi.

The Driver said that Morningside was 70 km at R10.00 p/km Plus a flat rate for wating per Half an hour. = R850.00

This is absolutely disgusting, but true I'm afraid. I had to use a Taxi in Durban a while ago - same distance - and it only cost R250! Anything in CT to do with tourism is measured in $.

Next time a visiting fellow aviator needs a lift in/around CT, let me know. I have lots of spare time on hand and no other obligations.

and when I am in Cape Town, I use a real taxi. Fare from the Cape Sun to Sea Point is R3.50. It is cheap transport, but the way these okes drive

the next time you are planning a trip to CT, put a posting on here in advance and we will happily plan to get you to the airfield, go for a flip, have a few frosties, maybe burn something on a grid.
