Flight data recorder

Postby topflight » Thu Nov 10, 2011 11:02 am

Would you fly with a flight data recorder?

A flight data recorder that will enable your family or friends to get updated flight data…track your flight, enable you to do some flight analysis afterwards (height, speed (ground and indicated), direction, g etc in Google earth) and whatever else is required.

I started developing such a device for myself; just for fun. The device is not nearly finish but I have a lot of ideas what I want to do with it regarding add-ons. It will be small, have a touch screen lcd and will be battery operated.

True, price is always important.

I will continue to work on the device to get it close to perfect and then I will make some decisions for the road ahead. I think the only problem will be to get CAA approval\certification for flying…that will probably cost an arm and a leg or I might just keep it uncertified to keep the costs down of the device.

Well we do fly NTCA and the info will mainly be for ourselves so why certify it? You can always make two available, one certified and one uncertified if you really really felt like it

I will do so Sacha...I just need to find more time to spend on the design.
