Go to
www.rfconcepts.co.uk for a bullet Camera (the more lines the better the resolution) and remember we use PAL
I want to get me the Archos Mini Digital Video Recorder (DVR):
http://www.archos.com/products/tv_centr ... al&lang=en
I am keen on the above because it has a 12V car charger and can charge directly of the aircraft. The cameras are 12V as well.
CLU-less has a multi-camera setup and for that you need an AV switch box. A AV switcher with a turning dial is a must have if you go multi camera.

CLU-less' son Dion is an electoronics technician specialising in video and sound. They have just wired up the plane with an electronic video/audio switch, a camera on the wing, a camera on the Kingpost

(what the hell is the main post called that holds the wing?) all switching into a digital video camera, including all the sound, intercom and radio. This gives them the ability to switch, in flight between a side view from the wing tip, a forward view from above the pilot and PAX's head and the free motion of the video camera when hand held.
I'm sure if you talk nicely to him they can build the switch for you

, with some form of compensation of course.

Excellent. Thanx guys. Exactly what I am looking for. Couple more tech questions?

What is recommended medium? I have ancient Sony camera, so am going to upgrade it in anycase. Is it better to go for MiniDV, HDV (HARD DRIVE) OR DVD, other than cost....

Seems HD camera is similar to DVR, but added bonus it can take vid as well? What about fitting a 4 channel DVR?

I will be fitting to a blik so wires are a pain in @ss as I would have to open wing/fuse to fit. Thus what are the wireless options? I have done CCTV installations on ground at some of our sites so assume it can be done technology wise, but I need to know what the cons are? Will there be interferance and is quality same?

I have only every used in static apps, where focus is on 1 point (safe, deliveries, entrace or cash office door for eg). What range is optimal for the cigar cams (lens)? What is best resolution to go for?
So many questions
Ta.
Seems the key is the medium you recod it on (Camera, DVR, PC?). Provision has been made for Laptop to be installed in plane. Is looking at USB and using PC to record the media an option?

We are currently selling a 4 channel mini DVR operating from 12V for R 6 800 (We will sell it to members for R5 800) Al you need then is a hard disc and you can then record 4 cameras simutaneously in real time. This would be the ideal solution. We can also do a 1 channel DVR with manual switcher for less. We also supply cameras. Should you require more info pse PM me.

Hello RV4ker,
My setup is as follows:
2 Bullet cameras (NTSC 480 Scan Lines) routed into a switchbox, the output is then routed to a Sony NTSC TRV-950 camcorder that sits in a bag in the back seat. I then have a Lanc cable that I use in flight to turn the camera on/off.
Planning on getting around to document the extact setup properly. Took me about 3 months of farting around to get it to where it is now.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Damien
