Any interest in the above? I am looking to build a LSA I can teach my lighties to fly in, in a couple years. Building alone is KAK. Got the tshirt. Any folks out there keen to build a Sonex kit?

The problem with Jhb is the vast expanse of urban sprawl we find ourselves in. Trying to find fly buddies near you is moer hard. I grew up in Bfn and they have 1 civvy airport, so have a moer strong club. I was at Varsity in Eastern Cape and ditto even a place like PE and Slummies have 1 GA field so Moer strong club. I have been Jhb since 1992 and never been a member of a club. Sad, but there just arn't any and everything is too blerry far apart with too many choices of airfields.... Aviators is lekka and maybe I find a couple skelm there who are keen....

Seems I am destined to build alone again. At least my sons are old enough to "help" or at least carry tea/beer this time round.....

George.... I am starting to like the though of a Sonex more and more - especially if D-Motor bring out a fuel injected 120hp 6!

Maybe overkill. The beauty of the aerovee is the cost. I will prob stay with aerovee to keep cost down and be able to assemble motor myself. Been 15 years since I played with the volla engine in the beach buggy build....
Now just to sell the animal and yodel to make space for the new project......

I sort of agree with Boet on the "Animal" bit. She is such a unique machine and if you had to fly to some of the airshows & fly-ins, surely a crowd stopper! As for the Yodel... get rid of!

Then start a project which may take a 1000 hours or more and then you don't have any fun factors bar the RV.

As for the strong engine upfront..... go and look at the figures which suites my needs to the tee! Will become a serious nippy fast affordable commuter for
up to 450 miles

Ja swaer... I want t build, so the completed aeries are not an option. I was supposed to be a minor shareholder in the animal which were were supposed to build but life just did not work out that way....

Kids are too young to learn just yet, but hopefully I will be doing LSA instructors on DA Animal in June/July. Just waiting for the school to get all ducks in row...
